These are the strategies that you will use as a business owner to increase your presence within your community and beyond. The internet has become the new yellow pages. It will not only bring you customers from your local area, but people from all over the world. The SEO strategies talked about in this post will be your building block for finding your best customer. Remember, your best customer is the one who is looking for your business.
Business owners know their customers the best. If you don’t know your customer, get to know them! Knowing the people that need and want your services will help you advertise to more people like them. Know their interests and habits. Once you know these things, it will help you to start thinking like them. When you think like your clients it makes it easier to come up with the key words they would use in an internet search.
If you are unsure what about the meaning of a keyword, I have explained that in my article, Website Ranking: Important Knowledge. I really can’t stress enough that keywords are quite important for how your customers will find your business. Keep in mind that you will want to have different keywords for each post and page that you make. Therefore, doing your keyword research can take some time. Once you have an idea of the best keyword for the article, product or post you would like to make you will want to think about your content.
SEO Strategy #3: Content
Content is one of the most important SEO strategies. If you look anywhere on the internet, you will see that people who know about Search Engine Optimization will say Content is King! The keyword(s) you chose are your basis for what you write about. Write in your own words. You do not want to cut and paste things other people said. Most websites that follow excellent SEO strategies will have at least 300 words within their pages and articles. If you are selling products or services, make sure to give your customers as much information about that item as you can. However, make sure that the content you write about is relevant to what you are selling.
Most likely your customers will be on some sort of social media; whether it be Facebook, Twitter or any other social media platform. This is why social media is so important for your business. You will want to make sure your website makes it easy for your clients to share the products or services you sell to their friends and family. What we used to call, “word of mouth” has now become social media. Not only can your customers “tell” their friends and family about your business, they can take them there via your website. They will be able to experience your business with a click of a mouse.
Keep It Simple, Simple. Your website will need to be easy to navigate. If your customers don’t understand how to find what they are looking for, they will quickly leave your site. Like with most books, your posts should have a table of contents or anchor links. This makes it easy for customers to find the information they are seeking. Also, if there is content in one area of your website that’s relevant to another part, make sure to link them. Internal links make it easy for clients to click around your website and gives them the information they need to know and shows them the products they want to buy.
